GDS — Grinding Dynamics Study — is OPTION-O's dual-geometry grinder: flat and conical burrs in a single chassis, so you can explore clarity or mouthfeel, filter or espresso, side by side without changing machines. Designed like a lab instrument and inspired by high-end audio amplifiers, its controls and fasteners are exposed, intentional and analog.

Three burr configurations

• Conical + Flat Mizen (100TX + 102OM) — the all-rounder. Rich, syrupy, traditional profiles on the left; OPTION-O's in-house Mizen flat pushes modern light roasts to their extraction potential on the right.
• Conical + Flat SSP HU (100TX + 102HU) — the same conical paired with an SSP High Uniformity flat for maximum clarity and separation.
• Flat Mizen + Flat SSP HU (102OM + 102HU) — two flat-burr expressions, Mizen and SSP High Uniformity, in one machine for direct comparison.

Highlights

• New Mizen HC100TX conical with PCS — a Preliminary Crushing System that stabilises feed rate and reduces the bean-column effect for better intra-dose consistency.
• 1650W industrial BLDC motor with closed-loop control — stable RPM under load, even with dense Nordic light roasts.
• Belt drive tuned to geometry — conical 100–500 RPM, flat 200–2000 RPM, with less heat and vibration at the burrs.
• Built true — critical parts machined to ±0.01 mm, dedicated thrust bearing for the flat burrs, integrated upper burr module that removes without recalibration. Each unit individually inspected.
• Analog by intent — micron-scale grind dials, variable speed, purge on demand and an ionizer switch for static control.
• Magnetic workflow platform — tool-free portafilter support (49–58 mm) and cup staging at 110 / 140 / 170 mm.
